Please familiarize yourself with your child’s campus binder, which will go home with them Monday.

Math:

This week we are reviewing place value. For Thursday and Friday’s lessons you will need number discs and a place value chart. You can find a place value chart in the math section of your child’s campus binder. You may purchase place value discs or a paper copy can be found on our blog on the following link:

Spelling:

We will be covering lesson 1 in spelling this week. There are no spelling words this week. See note on page 20 for how to properly dictate a sentence. Sentences should be filed in the spelling section of the campus binder each week.  Please note: If you have not purchased All About Spelling Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4, you can find a complete set of phonogram card, sound cards, and key cards on the Fortis blog here:

Grammar:

Grammar begins at home next week.

Writing:

We will practice outlining this week in IEW. If you haven’t begun watching the IEW training videos, please do so. Parents will be reading handwriting pages 1-8 this week.

Reading:

We will read Leonardo Da Vinci by Diane Stanley this week and practice narrations in class only. Pages are not numbered. Page 1 is "An Incredible Age".

History:

This week we will introduce history card #85 to the students; Age of Exploarition, as well as the timeline song. The students will be responsible to learn the entire timeline song this year, not just the “New World” section. Please look for opportunities to play this at home or in the car. The link to the song can be found below. A history journal entry should be 3-5 sentences written about something the student learned or found interesting in this week’s history card/lesson. This week Emery and Micah will share their journal entries with the class, along with any other student volunteers who are eager to sharpen their oral presentation skills. J

Geography:

This week we will introduce the continents and oceans map. You will find a copy of this map in the campus binder under the “memory” section. The students will be assessed on Wednesday September 6th. During an assessment, students will be asked to name and point to locations on a map with a word bank provided. The geography songs and maps can be found here:
